How to use Tarot Cards. Hint: I use them for Decision-Making.
Step-by-Step Guide to Working Smarter (Not Harder)
Tarot cards are overdue for their comeback. For centuries they’ve been misunderstood, feared, and even villainized — most likely tied back to the dense energies of the Salem Witch Trials, when even cats were considered “bad.” (SMH) These outdated thought processes still linger today, but I’m here to set the record straight: tarot is not evil, spooky, or dangerous. Tarot is powerful. And it deserves the credit.
I say this as an entrepreneur, artist, energy healer, and astrologer who’s lived through high-pressure roles. I’ve managed teams responsible for $1 billion annually at a Fortune 500 in NYC. I know what it feels like to make high-stakes decisions that ripple outward. And I also know how important it is to make aligned choices.
That’s why I use tarot — not as fortune-telling, but as a tool to work smarter, not harder, to access my intuition, and to clear away noise so I can hear what’s really true.
As an Artist, I admire the symbolism and artwork on the 1900’s Rider Waite Tarot Deck. That’s why I’ve decided to re-create my own interpretation of my favorite Tarot Cards - for obvious reasons one of my favorites is the Wheel Of Fortune. My Interpretation here in my Wearable Art Collection.

Without further ado, Here’s the exact process I use when I sit down with my deck:
☾ Step-by-Step: My Tarot Card Process
1. Clear the Energy of the Room
Think of it like prepping a fresh canvas: you don’t want old paint distorting your new work.
Visualize a golden flame burning away & transmuting the energy of the room or use a wave of water washing the room clean.
Take a second to notice the energy shift back to neutral before you begin. Then visualize the room filling up with ‘love & light’ energy, whatever resonates as high vibrational energy (puppies energy?!?)
Set Energetic protection to protect the energy that you just “cleaned”. Visualize a protective bubble around the space or say out loud that you’re setting ‘energetic protection’.
2. Set the Intention
Example: “I’m seeking clarity on this decision.” or “Show me the blind spots in my energy field.”
Visualize your personal intuitive dial turning all the way up. This is intentionally turning on and tapping into your own inner GPS system.
Declare: “No low or fear energies allowed.” Say it out loud with strong conviction. (Cue Kendrick Lamar: “B***h, don’t kill my vibe.”*)
If fear or anxiety creeps in, pause and reset with cleansing before continuing.
3. Choose Your Deck
Trust your pull — if one deck stands out, that’s your deck.
Cleanse it energetically. I like to “knock” on the deck to shake off residual energy.
Say: “I am resetting the energy of this deck.”
4. Ask the Question + Journal It
Write your question down in a journal.
Set the intention that cards that jump out are meant for you, upright or reversed.
This builds a record you can revisit and reflect on later.
5. Shuffle with Intention
Hold the deck in your right hand and shuffle into your left, letting cards naturally fall into your left hand. If any ‘jump’ out let them land as they wish (upright or reverse - check out video below)
Lay them out in order to tell a story (from left to right, but not a rigid rule).
Follow your intuition — if a group of cards feels connected, read them together.
6. Read the Story that has Unfolded
Look at each card: What stands out? What symbols or actions are jumping at you?
Ask: Does this feel harmonious or challenging? What’s the narrative across the spread?
Example: uphill battles → fighting → rainbow with coins = struggle with a beautiful, lucrative reward at the end.
7. Use Beginner Training Wheels (Optional)
If you’re new, grab the deck guidebook and jot down the first keyword that stands out for each card.
String those words together into a sentence.
Over time, your intuition will take over and the meanings will come alive.
8. Stay Focused
Don’t text or watch TV mid-session — it pops your protective bubble.
Outside distractions distort your intuition and muddy the answers.
Think of it like leaving a hot blackjack table; it kills the flow.
9. Close the Session
Cleanse the space again and reset to neutral and then to a high vibe state. (love & light energy)
Thank yourself, your intuitive energy, and your deck for the co-creation.
Visualize closing a door and turning down your intuition dial down to ‘normal’.
Physically put the deck away to signal completion.
Why This Works
Tarot is less about “predicting the future” and more about mirroring back your own energy and intuition. The pre-work — cleansing, intentions, protection — ensures that you’re connecting only with the high-vibe side of your energy field.
When used properly, tarot becomes a decision-making ally. I’ve used it for everything from choosing vacation spots to navigating legal battles. I’ve even read the energy of events and if it's something that I want to attend or not. It’s your short cut!
But with great power comes great responsibility. (picture me to you in my stern Father-Figure voice)
There are some important “what not to do’s” when working with tarot (pay attention!):
❌ Don’t use tarot to pry into others without permission. THIS IS IMPORTANT. This is as important as the parent/teen talk of “don’t drink & drive”. There are SERIOUS consequences…Crossing that line opens the door for your own energetic boundaries to be crossed. What does that look like? Carrying around someone else’s dense energy can leave you feeling anxious, foggy, ungrounded, or even physically unwell. Over time, it can manifest as mood swings, sleep disruption, burnout, money blocks, or weakened immunity. It’s like walking around with a weight that was never yours to carry.
❌ Don’t pull cards while drinking alcohol. Alcohol is a natural depressant, which means it literally depresses your vibration. In tarot, you want your frequency as high as possible — that’s why we cleanse the room, clear the deck, and set intentions. Pulling cards with alcohol involved distorts the response, lowers clarity, and creates “static” in your field. Instead of receiving sharp, aligned insights, you may end up with muddled messages that feel confusing or heavy.

☾ Best Practices for Tarot
Want your sessions to be clear, powerful, and aligned? Start here:
Cleanse the space first → Visualize a golden flame or water waves resetting the energy to neutral. A fresh canvas makes for clear messages.
Set a strong intention → Declare & mean it: “Only light, love, and clarity are welcome here. No fear or dense energies allowed.” Your words create your energetic boundaries & protection. Visualize your inward intuitive dial turning up.
Trust your pull → If a deck, card, or symbol jumps out, it’s meant for you. Tarot mirrors your intuition — lean into it. You already know the answers you seek.
Journal everything → Write down your question, the cards, and your interpretations. Reflection builds trust in your process over time.
Close with gratitude → Thank your deck, cleanse the space again, and visualize your inward intuitive dial turning down and a door closing. This protects your energy and signals the session is complete.
⚠️ What Not To Do with Tarot
To keep your sessions clear, safe, and high-vibe, avoid these common pitfalls:
Reading others energy without permission → This crosses energetic boundaries. You will unknowingly allow in outside dense energy, which can show up as anxiety, mood swings, exhaustion, money blocks, or even physical symptoms. Honor boundaries and free will choice and there will be no issues down the road.
Pulling cards while drinking alcohol → Alcohol is a natural depressant, which lowers your vibration. Tarot requires clarity and high frequency — otherwise, your readings will be muddled, distorted, or heavy instead of aligned and empowering.
Skipping intention-setting → If you don’t declare “no fear energies allowed” at the start, you risk opening space for fear or density to creep in. Protect your energy by setting boundaries and filling the room with light, clarity, and love.
